Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are one of most impressive procedures in cosmetic dentistry.  Porcelain veneers, unlike full coverage porcelain crowns, can be paper-thin and will bond onto the front of your tooth improving the shading and shape of your teeth for an aesthetic smile you’ve always wanted.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelains that are custom made to go on front teeth and provide enhanced aesthetics.  Veneers require minimal preparation, in some instances no preparation, and can correct a number of cosmetic issues.

What Can Porcelain Veneers Do?

  • Close space between teeth
  • Restore chipped teeth
  • Cover unsightly stains or discoloration
  • Restore unevenly size or misshapen teeth
  • Give a bright smile that cannot be achieved with bleaching alone
  • Correct crooked teeth

Advantages of Porcelain Veneers

  • Minimal preparation required
  • A natural, aesthetic appearance with little or no discomfort
  • Often less expesnive than alternative options
  • Porcelain veneers are durable and maintain their shade

The Veneer Process

The veneer process begins with a comprehensive consultation where Dr. Fiorentini will discuss which aspects of your smile you most want to enhance.  Veneers can alter the size, shape, and shade of your teeth.  Once we have an idea of the smile you are looking for, we will create a model of the proposed design so that we can show you what your requested treatment will look like.

The placement of veneers is generally a two-visit process that requires Dr. Fiorentini to prepare the teeth and take a final impression.  During your second visit, the veneer will be placed by bonding it to the existing the teeth to give you a beautiful, aesthetic smile.

Do My Teeth Need to Be Cut Down?

In some instances. no natural tooth is required to be removed before porcelain veneer placement.  Some of the teeth may need to be shaped to allow for proper contours of the final veneer, but there is very minimal to no preparation of the teeth required.

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?

Porcelain veneers are a great solution to achieving the aesthetic smile you have always dreamed of, but there are limitations and they may not be the best solution for everyone.  Every tooth and person is different and it is very important to have a full consult and treatment plan with Dr. Fiorentini to understand all of your options to know what is the best solution for the results you desire.

Individuals who have structurally weak teeth or who are prone to severe bruxism may be better suited for treatment with a full coverage porcelain crown.

Are Veneers Covered by Insurance

Veneers are considered an elective cosmetic procedure, so they are not typically covered by dental insurance.  Our office is happy to submit claims to insurance on your behalf to see if you do have any coverage.

Taking Care of Your Veneers

After receiving veneers, you must maintain great oral hygiene. Your new porcelain veneers should be treated just like natural teeth!
